WHO DOES WHAT IN A PROJECT?

One of the most important pieces of the foundation of a project is knowing who does what in the project. In today's business environment, a lot of projects are late or over budget because the right individuals from the organization are not involved or directly responsible for the project.

Bellow are the different member of the team. Not all projects have all the members. Sometime, one person may play multiple roles on the team

 » CUSTOMER The customer is individual or team who will use the output of our project.
» PROJECT CHAMPION Is someone senior in the organization. Who can make any necessary organizational changes to make the project succed
» PROJECT SPONSOR Usally works for the project champion. The sponsor ussually paids for the cost of the project or owns the application/ process/ or service being worked on the project. He or she initiaties the projec. The sponsor is responsible for creating the team charter. Also, the sponsor is the liason between management and the project team.
 » PROJECT LEADER/ MANAGER The projectt leader is the liason between the sponsor and the project team. He or she is responsible for executing the project plan and communicating to upper management any risk's or cost variances. The project leader manages the day today tasks of the project.
 » PROJECT TEAM

All of the individuals who provide special expertise to execute individual or group of tasks in the project plan.

» STAKEHOLDERS Stakeholders are individuals who are directly or inderectly affected by the process or service created by the project. The stakeholders usally one pieces or parts of the process.
» STEERING COMMITEE The steering committee is a group of people with Senior Roles in the organization who over see the project. These people have authority in the organization to drive changes or can influnece change to other senior members of the organization. The role of the steering committe is to make sure that the project has the proper resources and backup from senior management.
