To succeed in today's business environment you need more
than just common sense and intuition. No more are business
decisions are made based on intuition, but on hard data. Change
is the norm and patterns are rare in today's business environment.
You must be proactive and assertive when making decision because
everything is at stake.
The business world is being driven by:
- The Customer
- Global Markets
- A continuous changing environment
These market pressures have influenced corporations to be
more efficient on how they conduct business. One of the areas
which has been significantly challenged is Project Management.
In today's business environment project management needs to
be more efficient and effective than ever. Businesses can
no longer tolerate failure projects. Every failure project
represents a cost (no value added) to the business.
We are going to use the power of the Joiner Triangle
to combine the rigor of quality, a scientific approach, and
the power of a motivated team to maximize the value that project
management brings to the organization.

HOW
THESE ELEMENTS PLAY TOGETHER?
- We
will use Quality to help us create a Project
Management Process and to ensure that we are
focusing on the customer.
- The
Scientific Approach will help us analyze the
way in which all products and services are
delivered to the customer (question everything,
prove your hypothesis, and based your decisions
on data).
- We
will work on building a powerful motivated
team to execute and maintain the end product
or service.

WHY
DO WE NEED TO USE A PROJECT MANAGEMENT METHODOLOGY?
Every
project is a journey, where every project member
has a responsibility and tasks to accomplish.
It is a must that the project team speak
the same language. A Project Management
Methodology will do just that, teach the team
players the terms and processes that the organization
follows (organization culture). Companies like
General Electric that use a Project Management
Methodology perform better and have less failure
projects than other who don't have a Methodology.
As
you work in different projects, it becomes obvious
that as the project matures everyone starts
adopting terms specific to the project. The
project methodology should alphabetize the team
with a common language.
